Sunday Experience

Ask your children and they will tell you they have fun at church on Sunday. We weave lessons in and through experiences of fun by the use of stories, music, dance, games, activities and shared prayer.  From this centering foundation we are rebuilding our youth and family ministry program to serve the needs of those who are seeking to make our church their spiritual home who are with us and now and those on the way to us.

Youth Program Sundays … at 10:00 am:

Unity recognizes that there are many expressions of family life. All are welcome. Unity Church of El Cajon enjoys a Multigenerational Youth and Family Ministry that gratefully provides an affirming environment that fosters positive self-image, personal responsibility, with unconditional love and acceptance.

Each Sunday we are ready for children and teens actively exploring Unity principles and the teachings of Jesus together in a safe, fun and interactive environment. Lessons are experiential and active honoring the variety of learning styles and differing levels of understanding. We are so blessed with nurturing, trained and experienced teachers and volunteers.

Through love, joy and trust we encourage and nurture a sense of belonging and a recognition of wholeness.

Spiritual Education is provided to all our youth as they are an integral part of our ministry. We primarly learn the Basic Unity Principles, the lessons Jesus taught us from the bible.  All materials are provided through Unity WorldWide Ministries.

For children ages 4 through 10 our teachers and assistants teach from a Living Curriculum that nurtures the whole child through play, story, crafts, song and connection.

For Teens, a safe forum for exploration of self and relationships to others is provided, all through a spiritual lens.

Uniteens: Our middle schoolers qualify for this group at age 11 and when enrolled in the 6th grade.

Youth of Unity: Our YOU'ers begin at age 14 and when enrolled in the 9th grade. This is a community unto itself in which bonds are formed that last a lifetime.

Nursery is available during Sunday service for infants and toddlers.

It is truly wonderful to have children and to be truly awake in caring for them, that they may grow up in health and awareness and assurance that they are God’s and all things needful come through them and to them.

Mandala Coloring--a Creative Tool for Stress Relief and Peace Keeping

One of the creative focusing tools we use helps us discover how to relieve stress and keep our peace is in coloring Mandalas from books for all ages.  We also took our chalk and templetes and create Mandalas outside our classroom.  Mandala templates vary offer subjects for boys as well as girls. There are templates for young fingers and more involved ones for teens and teachers.  These are used a a spiritual practice at the time we come together, and as a starting point for meditation in class.  At home they can act likewise and also help with stress relief for teens in dealing with relationships and school.
