Dear Church Family,

Learning & acquiring new habits is not always easy. I recently learned that I need to eat a low-fat diet. It is a marked change from my normal course of eating. I love fatty foods – not necessarily from the cheeseburger and French fries family, but I eat a lot of avocados and use plenty of olive oil. Now those items are eaten in serious moderation.

Like all new habits there is the usual time of adjustment. The first instinct is to think of all the delicious edibles that I will not be eating (like a cheeseburger and fries) and after examining my fridge and pantry – removing the possibility of “temptations”. Gone are the bags of dry roasted nuts, cheese collection, and the high fat meats. In their place is bone broth, low fat dairy and lots of fruits and veggies.

This week I began to think of all the possibilities with this new eating plan. I am encouraged to eat several small meals a day. I love the thought of eating all day long. Creating combinations and planning meals has a new sense of enjoyment. I even bought an air fryer so I can make low fat fries out of a wide assortment of veggies.

It dawned on me that what makes this transition of new habits is my understanding of Truth. Our third principle states: We create our experience through our thoughts and feelings. There was a time in my life when I would not be open to the changes I am making. One thing that assists is knowing I have had a life time of eating whatever I choose to…there are many experiences of cheeseburgers and fries, as well as the deliciousness of unrestrained cheesecake, donuts, pizza and other wonderful temptations – and I can let them go. My focus has changed, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to do this for my health.

And I want to thank you for your ongoing support and love. Many of you have reached out with loving and encouraging affirmations. Bless you for your kindness. I am grateful for you.

Many blessings,
Pastor Robert
