Nov 13, 2020 From Summer to Winter Break

From Our Pastor
Dear Church Family,

It felt like we went from summer to winter last week. Growing up in Ohio I was accustomed to four distinct seasons and the weather appeared in traditional ways; rainy springs, hot summers, crisp autumns and cold winters. So when the temperatures went from 90 degrees on Thursday to rainy and in the 50’s on Saturday – it felt like we forgot a season somewhere.

The season with Covid changed again this week, too. We went from Red to Purple in our level of indoor social interaction. We enjoyed a few more activities in the Red level, including indoor worship services. So for now we will suspend live in person worship. We understand this a season of our lives that includes Covid and we will take the precautions advised to assist in our wellness. We have new hope of an effective vaccine on the horizon. We are all very hopeful for this as we want this season to pass and for us to resume many of the activities and connections that we cherish.

Seasons remind us to not be attached to the things of this world. Seasons change and life in this human experience is always changing. I guess this is why Truth is so appealing – it doesn’t change. Hopefully our understanding of Truth continues to evolve, but Truth itself is absolute. We are changed because of the ways we utilize Truth.
The Buddha was known for saying, “One moment can change a day, one day can change a life and one life can change the world.” Seasons come and go, time marches on, people come in and out of our lives, it is all part of this human experience, it’s all benefits our spiritual unfolding.

Take heart, Covid will pass and legendary stories will evolve to share with future generations. Let us allow this moment to motivate change that is helpful to us and transformative for the world.

Many blessings,

Pastor Robert
