Praying for Seamless Transition

From the Desk of Pastor Robert

Dear Church Family,

Recently on a Zoom meeting we were discussing our experiences in getting appointments for the Covid vaccine. Each participant who was eligible to get one was stymied by a system that left them unsuccessful in their attempts to make an appointment. In another Zoom meeting with a different group we were celebrating the successes of people who had either gotten their first dose already or had an appointment to do so.

We are heralding the advent of the Covid vaccine, although it appears the distribution of the vaccine is in the midst of a paradigm shift from hit and miss confusion into a streamlined process that can easily answer questions and get the right people to the right places at the right time. Being in the midst of a paradigm shift is usually uncomfortable for everyone who participates at some point in the shift. Because of our differences in personality, beliefs and responses we don’t all experience the same discomfort or the same moment.

25 years ago I served on the Ryan White AIDS Task Force in Hawaii. We were a collection of consumers and providers appointed to allocate the Ryan White funds that Hawaii was given to provide HIV/AIDS support and health services. It was a shift in how to decide to “divvy the pot” between the various organizations on islands. It was not a comfortable process. Each island and each agency, had specific needs they wished to be addressed. Sometimes it appeared that agencies provided conflicting information.  I remember in one planning session a representative from a national HMO said her personal desire was for a “seamless transition” of services from one agency to another.

I loved that phrase “seamless transition” as that is our desire with the Covid vaccine program. Our desire is to see each person directed to the appropriate agency at the right time and place. Our desire is everyone experiences ease and grace getting each question answered and each vaccine administered. I have faith this will unfold – however, in this moment we breathe in and out God’s grace and love as we experience some turbulence in the vaccine roll out.

I would also like to encourage EVERYONE to get a vaccine as soon as it is available to you. I believe medical treatments, like these vaccines, are an expression of Divine Mind, Divine Intelligence, Divine Love.  We hold each of you in love and light as you go through this process. We affirm God’s Good to continue to flow through you. We affirm a “seamless transition” in the vaccine process. Amen.

Many blessings,
Pastor Robert
