Mother's Day 2020

Dear Church Family,

I love Mother's Day. I am filled with wonder that God provided me with a mother who assisted me in my spiritual evolution. She was a young mother and in many respects we grew up together - both of us growing, evolving and maturing. Like many parent/child relationships we had some uncomfortable days as I was growing up; disagreements, misunderstandings, etc. Ultimately Spirit continued to work through us to understand that we were more alike than we were different. In fact, we are so much alike that there is great comfort and ease in being with each other.

God also provided many other Mother (nurturing) figures in my life; my beloved grandmothers, aunts, neighbors, parents of my friends, teachers, church family, and now many of you. Each of these people were givers and nurturers. They gave time and attention, love and affection, support and affirmation. Many of the mother figures in my life have transitioned to the invisible realm. Like you, I become attached to the people in my life. I feel deeply. I love deeply. And I have experienced deep hurts, too. Thankfully, I discovered and accepted Truth Principles as they have helped me navigate the pain into healing. Experiencing pain is par for the course in human life, staying in pain is a choice. In doesn't feel that way at the time, but the power of Divine Mind can assist in transforming all pain into healing and wholeness. In fact, experiencing and then transforming pain reinforces our strength. We have heard of the Wounded Healer - this is the being who walks through pain into transformation of wholeness. The pain they once experienced informs them of how to be open and receptive to God's Good.

Mother's Day is an opportunity to honor the love and appreciation for my mom and the many mother's (nurturers) who have walked the journey with me. There are moments of longing and deep appreciation for the memories of those mothers and grandmothers who have made their transition. How I would love to hug each one and express my gratitude for their love, support and impact on my life. Maybe, even make amends with some of them for my less than appreciative days long ago (or even more recently). I can do this through my prayers today. Hopefully, I will do this through my actions and feelings, as well.

To my mom, and to the all the mothers and grandmothers (nurturers) who influenced me, loved me, supported me, believed in me, laughed with me (and fed me) I love you, I bless you , I appreciate you - I give thanks for all the ways God has manifested through you to nurture me and the world. I behold the Christ in you.

Many Blessings,
Pastor Robert
