Weekly Thoughts

Dear Church Family,

Easter Sunday was a glorious day! Everything about it from being present with you, enjoying the beautiful weather and an uplifting service made it memorable. I have happy Easter memories; everything from shopping for new dress clothes, attending church, dying Easter Eggs, family dinners (always ham) to watching the Sound of Music on television. Beautiful memories.

Life is often about making beautiful memories. Some of our favorites aren’t necessarily planned moments, are they? Many are about the spontaneous events or moments when we are totally present, and love and joy is shared. Often these beautiful moments occur when we have opened our hearts to receive. I can remember times when I was shut down to experiencing joy. It didn’t make for a peaceful or happy life. It often made for a controlled and measured experience in which I didn’t fully participate. Maybe you’ve experienced this at some point – being too cool to care, or not allowing yourself to fully participate in something because you couldn’t control it?

It is one of my life lessons: Trusting the world and allowing myself to fully participate in God’s Good. I rely upon my growing faith in Unity’s Five Spiritual Principles. Especially the first; There is only one presence and power active in the Universe – God the good omnipotence. Any time I realize error thought is about, I remind myself of this Truth. There is only GOD. All else is illusion.

I especially hold onto this when I feel challenged. There is only God, and the challenge is both a wake-up call and a distraction. A wake-up call to respond with awareness and a distraction from the Truth of my being.

Today as you continue to make beautiful memories by being present in the moments of your life, allow the Truth of God the Good always present in, as and through you.

Many blessings,
Pastor Robert
